"The Vagina Monologues, created by Eve Ensler, is made up of a number of monologues read by various women. Every monologue somehow relates to the vagina, be it through sex, love, rape, menstruation, mutilation, masturbation, birth, orgasm, the variety of names for the vagina, or simply as a physical aspect of the body. A recurring theme is the vagina as a tool of female empowerment, and the ultimate embodiment of individuality." - The Vagina Monologues
On February 26th and March 5th The
V-Day Lubbock Coalition put on an incredible performance of The Vagina Monologues, making this the 4th performance I have attended. My first year, back in 2008 I performed two monologues. In 2009 I performed two monologues and was an assistant producer. 2010 I photographed and this year, 2011, due to a miscommunication that ended up working in my favor, I was able to photograph this year's performance. It has only gotten better with each year as the audience gets bigger and the performances as well.
All proceeds went in support of Women's Protective Services and The Victims' Voice.
