Peace O' Cakes

Peace O' Cakes

Peace O' Cakes Cupcakes is an upscale, big-city cupcakery here in this small but growing town. With their butter creme icing flavored to any of their 50+ flavors, they are sure to hit everybody's sweet spot. (You know, the one right under the rib cage.)

Located on the northwest corner of 34th and Indiana, Peace O' Cakes is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30am until all the cupcakes are sold!

My friend Jana (who you have already seen so many lovely posts about if you've been following my 365 Project) works at Peace O' Cakes and let me in the shop early to photograph the madness happening in the kitchen. It was a wonderful experience and so much fun! Thank you so much at everyone at Peace O' Cakes!

So many wonderful, delicious cupcakes!

Logo Designed

I am super happy. One of the projects assigned in my portfolio class was to create a logo to brand myself as a photographer with. This is something I've kept meaning to do but never got around to it. Mostly because I was scared. I had no idea where to even begin.

Thankfully, I've got friends who do know what they are doing. A good friend of mine who is also a graphic design major, Lynsey Jones, took time out of her crazy last-semester-of-college schedule to walk me through designing my logo. Like many logos, this one may change a bit over time, but for now, I love it and I'll use it until it morphs into a final design.

I am Alison Paige Photography and here is my logo. Let me know what you think. =)

Colorado Trip

Colorado was a wonderful experience. My boyfriend and his family took me along on their family vacation to snowboard and ski. It was fantastic. I had never been before but I went headfirst into the sport and got my ass handed to me. These shots were taken walking around the grandparents place. Such beautiful scenery up there.

The creek nearby was almost completely frozen over. I was literally standing in the middle on the ice when taking this shot. It was so lovely.

I love to find the details of something that makes it beautiful and let it show in the photograph. If you follow my 365 Project, the details are what stand out in every photo. I just see things differently than most.

Colorado, you were amazing. I am so thankful for the experience.

Population 30

No Trespassing.... or is it now OK?

Contrasting Colors

This was a treasure of a find. It was filled with old broken car parts and lights. Absolutely awesome in my mind.

Ready to fly....

These are just a few of my favorite shots from my trip to Acuff, Texas on February 13th. Please forgive me for my late edits. It's been so crazy at school lately, not to mention, I think because of the time of the year my emotions have been on a roller coaster from Hell and the last thing I want to do is sit and edit.

I want to fly.

OK. Now to edit more photos and catch up on my 365 Project.

If you're familiar with my 365 Project, then you are aware of the Depot District Arches I took a picture of in the rain. You may recognize this very image with photo credit on the Intensive English Program website about Lubbock. I'm happy. I've basically become the official photographer for the Intensive English Program at Texas Tech. That's awesome.

=) Just thought I would share. Now back to editing...

February Snow

Cactus Snow!

This bottle has been sitting on the pedestrian bridge for over a week now. At first it really freaked me out because my first assumption about a beer bottle is that it is made of glass. I was proven wrong on this one. Plastic. However, just by looking at it, you would never guess it was just that.

I just love the birds in this image.

After all the snow had melted off the bridge it made some wicked reflections.

Lubbock has been crazy, but we all knew that already. Tuesday was gorgeous though. Big white fluffy flakes of snow traveled across the Llano and I took that opportunity to walk to work on campus, not bike, walk. Walking allowed me to sniff up all the snowflakes up my nose I could manage, really appreciate the feeling of fluffy ice hitting me in the eye, and figure out just how quickly snow melted through denim and chucks. Beautiful day. By the time I got to work I had a tummy sated with sky water, pants soaked up to the knees (an a little on the bum) and 2 gigs on my CF card full.

These are just my favorites.

Confidential Information

Mabely and I work together up at the Foreign Language Building at Texas Tech. While I was going through a very inspirational photographic journey, and after we shredded 4 bags of paper, I told Mabely to sit and hold a piece of paper for me and she did.

I want to do this shoot again, but I thought I would put up a shot of my favorite from that 5 minute shoot.
